The Next Web (TNW) is a tech media company that focuses on helping people get the most out of technology. They educate their audience of 10+ million monthly users with stories and insights and bring them together through events.
When COVID-19 halted in-person events, TNW was forced to postpone their flagship event TNW2020.
Now, they needed to find a way to continue engaging with their audience without physical events.
After brainstorming how they could continue running events for their audience, TNW decided to create a series of virtual “Couch Conferences.” Each Couch Conference focused on a unique topic related to technology, such as the future of digital product development, branding and digital marketing, and how retailers can use technology.
Using Hopin, they created nine virtual events — five Couch Conferences and four partner events. Their nine events had 276 speakers and 78 sessions.
The speakers included big names like Rich Pierson, Co-Founder and CEO of Headspace, and other experts from companies like Google, Microsoft, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and Shopify.
They hosted all nine of these events in an eight-week period, and they charged attendees for tickets to their couch conferences.
Over 20,000+ people attended TNW’s nine virtual events. The nine events delivered a total of 37.5 hours of online content.
